Arnica Oil refers to a clan of flowering perennial plants from the daisy family (Compositae) that's native to Europe and Siberia but also grows in North America, especially in mountainous regions. It is well-known for its use in natural medicine and is recognisable through its flowers, which have yellow petals and an orange centre.
Uses of Arnica Oil:
Arnica flowers and roots have been used for hundreds of years as an herbal medicine. It was said that the German poet and philosopher Goethe consumed arnica tea to relieve chest pain. Smoking the leaves was also a popular therapeutic practice.Today, though, great caution is advised when using arnica, especially in its pure essential oil form.
Arnica oil is used in perfumes and some cosmetic products, such as anti-dandruff lotions and hair tonics.Aside from arnica oil, arnica pellets, topical gels, and creams are also available today.
Composition of Arnica Oil:
Arnica oil is made up of about 50 percent fatty acids, including linolenic, palmitic, linoleic, and myristic acids. The other 50 percent is a mixture of thymol, various ethers of thymol, thymohydroquinone dimethyl ether, and phlorol isobutyrate.
Arnica oil contains a compound called helenalin, which may cause allergic reactions in people with sensitivity. If you develop a mild rash while using arnica oil, you are probably helenalin-sensitive and should stop using the oil.
Benefits of Arnica Oil:
Arnica oil is found to have antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, and may be helpful for treating or relieving:

  • Muscle aches, spasms, pulled muscles, or rheumatic pain – A 2007 study found that a homeopathic arnica solution has a positive effect on muscle soreness after marathon running.Arnica is actually one of my recommended natural remedies for delayed onset muscle soreness.

  • Sprains, bruises, and swelling due to fractures

  • Insect bites – Homeopathic arnica can help treat insect bites and stings, especially those that may lead to intense bruising and soreness.

  • Acne – However, I do not recommend applying on broken skin.

Fusel Oil

Approx Price: Rs 575 / Kilogram
Minimum Order Quantity: 1 Kilogram

Fusel oil, a mixture of volatile, oily liquids produced in small amounts during alcoholic fermentation. A typical fusel oil contains 60–70 percent of amyl alcohol, smaller amounts of n-propyl and isobutyl alcohols, and traces of other components. Before industrial production of synthetic amyl alcohols began in the 1920s, fusel oil was the only commercial source of these compounds, which are major ingredients of lacquer solvents. The fusel oil alcohols are apparently produced during fermentation from amino acids. In industrial alcohol plants, fusel oil and ethyl alcohol are recovered from the fermented liquors and separated by distillation. In the beverage industry, fusel oil is ordinarily allowed to remain in the finished products. The amount present in a 100 proof distilled alcoholic beverage is typically between 0.5 and 2 grams per litre (0.07 and 0.3 ounce per gallon).

  • The higher alcohols, also referred to as fusel oils, are found in most beverages.
  • These are the alcohols that have three (3) to six (6) carbon atoms per molecule (see diagram).
  • They are produced through the metabolisation of nitrogenous compounds by yeasts.
  • The term fusel oil comes from an old German word "fuseln", which means "to bungle" and was applied to bad spirit as in distilled alcohol and also bad tobacco.
  • The term fusel oil is strictly the remains of a pot or batch distillation, the compounds with low volatility.
  • However, many off these compounds are collected as part of the distillate, imparting their own unique flavour complexity, but can be quite obnoxious if in excess.
  • Their harsh attributes require extended maturation time to integrate and mellow.
  • The compounds that go to make up fusel oils predominantly consists of higher alcohols, especially amyl alcohol, esters, fatty acids and some specific aldehydes.
  • While not strictly oils have an oily consistency.
  • The non-volatility and oily nature of higher alcohols lies in their high molecular weight and structure.
  • While these alcohols, at high levels, have a high toxicity, the induced vomiting they trigger prevent fatalities.
  • They are however a major contributor to hangovers. The higher the molecular weight of the alcohol involved, the worse the hangover.

Tansy Oil

Approx Price: Rs 2,875 / Kilogram
Minimum Order Quantity: 1 Kilogram

Tansy Oil
The health benefits of Tansy Essential Oil can be attributed to its properties as an antibacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-histaminic, antiviral, febrifuge, insecticide, hormone stimulant, sedative, and vermifuge substance.
Tansy is a common European herb and the scientific name of Tansy is Tanacetum Vulgare or Tanacetum Annuum. The essential oil of Tansy is extracted by steam distillation of all the plant parts. The chief components that form this essential oil are artemisone, borneol, camphone, camphor, isopinocamphone, piperitone, and thujone.
Health Benefits of Tansy Essential Oil
Antibacterial: It should not be very hard to understand that the essential oil, which is so poisonous and can be fatal to humans, would also be deadly for those tiny bacteria. Although some bacteria can survive unimaginable extremities of temperature and toxins, for most of the bacteria which live in the human body, this oil is lethal. It kills them and inhibits their multiplication. This gives effective protection against bacterial infections, provided that it is taken in very, very mild doses.
Antifungal: There is little doubt that the essential oil, which can kill some very adamant and hardy species of bacteria infecting the human body, will also be harsh on fungus as well. Fungus cannot stand the toxicity of this oil and are killed when subjected to this oil. Their spores are also destroyed. This makes this oil an efficient protector against fungal infections, which cause skin diseases, running ears, hair problems, and dysentery
Anti-inflammatory: The Essential Oil of Tansy has been found to be effective in giving relief from inflammation, particularly those pertaining to the skin, and others as well. It also gives relief, to some extent, from inflammation in the respiratory, digestive, and nervous systems.
Anti-histaminic: Histamine in the body is responsible for triggering allergies and the various problems related to allergies, such as rashes, itches, severe coughs, asthma, breathing troubles, continuous sneezes, or hiccups. Allergies can turn seriously fatal if they take over the internal organs, particularly the liver and heart. These attacks of allergies can be countered by lowering the levels of histamine in the body and checking its production. Tansy Essential Oil neutralizes histamine and checks its further production, thereby controlling these allergic reactions.
Insecticide: Insects like cockroaches, ants, termites, and moths that are very commonly found in our households, and parasitic insects like mosquitoes, fleas, ticks, lice, and bed bugs, prefer to keep a safe distance from this oil as it is poisonous to them and has a pungent aroma that they cannot withstand. Scientifically known as Cymbopogon khasans, jamrosa refers to a grass hybrid, which is generally of a pale yellowish color. The origin of jamrosa grass is in India and it is widely grown in areas like Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and also in the southern parts of the country. The jamrosa oil is extracted from the highly aromatic jamrosa grass. This medium sized grass is of hybrid origin, being a cross between the palmarosa and citronella. It is a plant which generally grows in the wild. The high quantities of ocimene and geraniol present in jamrosa imparts it with the scents of mangoes and roses and this is how it differs from the palmarosa. Recently, the jamrosa products have seen a rise in demand and commercial cultivation of the grass on a larger scale is required. The Regional Research Laboratory (RRL) in Jammu has developed a new variety of the jamrosa which is called CN-5.

The strong fibers of the jamrosa are also used to make idols and statues containing plaster of Paris. This grass provides highly useful products and is greatly favored by the industry. Its long and strong fibers are useful in the making of ropes. Jamrosa supplies the raw materials for industries based on fiber. Traditionally, jamrosa has been used as a perfumery compound as it possesses the scent of roses. Geraniol Geranyl Acetate are two useful products derived from the jamrosa oil. The spent grass of jamrosa is used in the making of cattle feed and organic manure. Handmade papers are also made from jamrosa products and also for making dhoop, agarbatti/ masala agarbatti and raw agarbatti. The spent water of the plant is used to make natural insect repellent. The spent water of the

plant is highly pure in quality and has many chemical agents which can be dissolved easily in water. It is considered good for health reasons. Jamrosa is also used for creating fragrances like rose fragrances. These grasses are ecologically important as they have the ability to prevent soil erosion, recharge the ground water and to detoxify environmental contamination.

Jamrosa oil is extracted through the process of steam distillation. The oil is composed of 75% geraniol and 20% geranyl acetate. The scent of jamrosa can be described as a rose-grassy scent but it is less stronger than that of the palmarosa. Jamrosa blends well with palmarosa, geranium, rose geranium, ginger grass and juniper berry. It is an antiseptic, bactericidal, digestive stimulant and febrifuge. The jamrosa oils are used in the food and flavoring industries.
